After a stint as a jet aircraft mechanic in the United States Air Force, Jay studied graphic design to obtain his BFA, but was lured into the world of sculpture and metal through elective sculpture classes taken while pursuing his degree. Dissatisfied with the impermanent aspect of graphic design, he became interested in working with metals and trying to draw in three dimensions with them.   Jay is the co-founder, and co-owner of Metalphysic Sculpture Studio in Tucson, Arizona.
